Rest for the Weary (Matthew 11:28 Devotional)

Jesus speaks directly to your tired soul: “Come to Me… and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Rest is not just sleep. Rest is when your heart is quiet even when life is loud. It’s when your mind stops racing because your spirit is anchored in Christ.

If you’ve been carrying heavy burdens—worry, responsibilities, fear, pressure—Jesus is inviting you to come closer. You don’t need to have everything together before you come. You come as you are, and He gives you what you lack.

Today, release what you’ve been holding too tightly. You were not created to carry life alone. Let Jesus carry you.

Prayer

Jesus, I bring You my burdens. Give me rest and peace. Calm my mind, strengthen my heart, and renew my spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Declaration

I receive God’s rest. I will not be overwhelmed; I am carried by Christ.

Reflection / Journal

  • What burden do I need to lay down today?

  • What has been stealing my peace?

  • What would it look like to rest in Jesus this week?
